School Meals

At Twerton Infant School lunch time is a very important part of the day. We work hard to create a positive, enjoyable and healthy lunch time experience. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 benefit from the the Government's offer of Universal Infant Free School Meals.

Our varied menu contains both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options and special diets can be catered for on request. Children wishing to stay for school meals can choose to do so on a daily basis as well as weekly. Please bring the correct amount of money in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the child’s name and the days on which a meal is required and hand it to the class teacher or office. If you are entitled to free school meals please complete the form included in this pack and return to the school office. If you have any questions regarding school meals or lunchtimes please don’t hesitate to ask.

Twerton Infant School is proud of its Healthy Schools Status. This award is in recognition of the work we do with the children with regard to healthy eating and developing healthy eating habits. To help support our work we need your help in promoting a healthy packed lunch. If your child is bringing in a packed lunch please could you ensure that it is healthy. Please do not include sweets in the packed lunch and perhaps only include crisps a couple of times a week. Drinks may be brought in but not fizzy drinks or those in glass bottles, or cans. Packed lunches should be brought in a named unbreakable container.

Free milk and fruit!

Free milk is provided for all children during the Reception year, if your child does not drink milk we will provide water or feel free to send in a carton of juice (no fizzy drinks please). All children throughout the school will receive a piece of fruit a day.

Please inform staff of any allergies your child may have as this is vital especially during lunchtimes or cookery.
